As a national service organisation, the AMC is dedicated to increasing the profile and sustainability of Australian composers and other creative artists. The AMC facilitates the performance, awareness and appreciation of music by these artists through resonate – its online magazine; composer and other creative artist representation; library and retail services; sheet music publishing; and the management, administration and publication of project-based initiatives. Its library collection holds over 30,000 items by more than 500 artists.
The genres of music included in the AMC’s vision are notated composition, electroacoustic music, improvised music (including contemporary jazz), electronica, sound art, installation sound, and multimedia, web and film sound.
The AMC fosters the development of an Australian music community by providing specialist support to its membership of performers, composers, sound artists, educators, students, and music specialists across Australia and throughout the world. More about the Centre...
The Centre's library provides research and perusal access to a unique collection of

Australian composers/creative artists. To borrow scores, books and recordings, you will need to obtain membership. Members can make borrowing requests by
, phone, fax or in person. Items are issued by mail to borrowers outside of metropolitan Sydney.

A wide variety of scores, CDs, teacher resource kits and books, all relating to Australian music, are available at the Centre's shop. While most items in the catalogue are available for sale, some items cannot be purchased because they are out of print (but still under copyright), or they are unpublished recordings with no licence allowing them to be reproduced and retailed. Such materials are only available through ther library.
Borrowing is restricted to perusal and research purposes only. It is a legal requirement to purchase any music for performance purposes. Additionally, purchasing music ensures creative artists are provided with commercial return for their work.
No! Borrowing from the Centre's library collection does not entitle you to make copies of items for any purpose. With the exception of copies permitted under 'fair dealing'
provisions or a separately negotiated licence, any reproduction requires specific authorisation from the relevant copyright holder(s).

As a member, you not only have access to the library collection, but you stay connected to the latest news and information about Australian composers and other creative artists through the Centre's publications.
