What is the Australian Music Centre?

As a national service organisation, the AMC is dedicated to increasing the profile and sustainability of Australian composers and other creative artists. The AMC facilitates the performance, awareness and appreciation of music by these artists through resonate – its online magazine; composer and other creative artist representation; library and retail services; sheet music publishing; and the management, administration and publication of project-based initiatives. Its library collection holds over 30,000 items by more than 500 artists.

What genres of music does the AMC represent?

The genres of music included in the AMC’s vision are notated composition, electroacoustic music, improvised music (including contemporary jazz), electronica, sound art, installation sound, and multimedia, web and film sound.

Who does the AMC provide services for?

Do members receive any publications as part of their membership?

Members receive the AMC's monthly eNews, which provides them with up-to-date information about the AMC's recent activities and news.

Do I need to be an AMC member to read resonate magazine?

While some sections of resonate are available to the general public, the INDEPTH section is available to AMC Members only. AMC members have access to all the feature articles and interviews, as well as the resonate journal - a biannual thematically driven journal about current issues in the new music scene (formerly Sounds Australian Journal).

Why should I become a member of the Australian Music Centre?

As a member, you not only have access to the library collection, but you stay connected to the latest news and information about Australian composers and other creative artists through the Centre's publications. Members also help to support the Centre's on-going projects that provide assistance and support to Australian composers, and so help raise awareness for Australian composition across the world.

If I'm a member of the Centre can I lodge works in the library?

The Centre's library contains works by Represented composers only. Representation is a service provided by the Centre that allows Australian composers/creative artists to lodge works in the library, have their products and materials made available for sale through the Centre's shop, and have a biography on the website. Do I qualify for concession membership rates?

You must provide a card number to be eligible for the concession rate. We recognise secondary, tertiary, transport and Centrelink concessions.
