Tune into ABC Classic FM's New Music Up Late program with Julian Day on the 9th December to celebrate the launch of an exciting new web project.
'The A-Z of Spiritual Music: a user's guide' - developed by composer Richard Vella in response to a commission from ABC Classic FM - explores the connections bewteen music and spiritual concepts. New works written for the Sonic Art Ensemble are juxtaposed with personal reflections on spirituality and music. The original concept grew and took its present shape in response to the interest of ABC Classic FM's Australian Music Curator Stephen Adams in developing new prototypes for the presentation of music on the web. The new musical works incorporated into the project were commissioned by the Sonic Art Ensemble with the assistance of the Music Board of the Australia Council, and the recordings of these works were commissioned and produced by ABC Classic FM in collaboration with Richard Vella, while ABC's New Media department provided technical and edsign assistance in creating the website.
New Music Up Late is co-produced by Stephen Adams and Julian Day and is presented every Saturday night from 10:30pm to 12:30am by Julian Day.
