Running for 25 years, the ACOF project gave emerging composers the opportunity to develop a piece with a professional orchestra, a sympathetic conductor, and expert tutors.
As like 2003, the host orchestra for 2004 was the Tasmanian Symphony Orchestra (TSO) conducted by Kenneth Young. During the workshop week in Hobart, Tasmanian Symphony Orchestra musicians and staff - along with tutors Brenton Broadstock and Andrew Schultz - provided invaluable advice and assistance, ensuring that the project was a wonderful learning experience for all involved. The week culminated in a concert on the 2nd December at the beautiful Federation Concert Hall. This concert was recorded for future broadcast by ABC Classic FM.
The participant composers in 2004 included three composers from the 2003 Forum, together with new participants from Malaysia and New Zealand.
