Orchestras Australia commissioned composers Katy Abbott and Matthew Hindson to write two orchestral works (symphony and string). During the project, participating orchestras in SA, Vic, NSW and QLD had the opportunity to work with Katy as she composed the new works. For many of the players and conductors this was the first time they had met and worked with a living composer.

Matthew Hindson
Matthew Hindson is an Australian Composer whose works have been performed by ensembles and orchestras throughout his native Australia, including most of its professional symphony orchestras and chamber groups. Overseas, his compositions have been presented throughout the Asia–Pacific, Europe and the US, and have been featured at such key events as the 1994 and 2000 Gaudeamus Music Weeks in Amsterdam, the 1997 ISCM Festival in Copenhagen and the 1998 Paris Composers Rostrum.
