ACOF provides the opportunity for composers to develop a musical work with one of Australia's professional symphony orchestras, together with tutelage from some of the country's most respected composers.

The composers worked throughout the year with tutors Roger Smalley and Brenton Broadstock, culminating in an intensive workshop period with the West Australian Symphony Orchestra under the baton of Kevin Field. The final public performance was recorded for broadcast by ABC Classic FM.
