Daniel Salecich

Biography

Daniel Salecich has studied both violin and composition since an early age. His teachers include Spiros Rantos, Philip Bracinin, Kurt Schwertsik and Erich Urbanner. He has toured throughout Japan, Korea, Europe and many parts of Australia, and was Concertmaster of the Queensland Youth Symphony in 2000 and 2001.

Salecich has also attended workshops at the Australian Academy of Music with Karen Tanaka and Simon Bainbridge. Upon winning a University medal awarded from his B.Mus (Hons) degree at the University of Queensland, an Australian Postgraduate Award enabled him to begin a PhD in composition. His current studies have led him to Vienna, where for the past year he has learnt German and developed further his compositional skills and violin playing. His PhD thesis will outline the dilemma concerning Niche Marketing and Contemporary Art Music.
