Program Notes: Sculpt
Sculpt uses a variable text based on homophones (words of different meanings that sound the same), which may be delivered and interpreted multifariously. However, the main focus is on speech or breath sounds as timbral colours, that, precisely controlled, become a structural and emotional device. Conceptually, it is a meditation on the imagined grief of beings with sentience but without consciousness.
