Program Notes: Suffocate Me

The best thing about having young(ish) parents is that their musical taste isn’t too cringeworthy. Hence my 20-year obsession with uber legend David Bowie, which began by rifling through my parents’ LP collection. I’m pleased to say that Suffocate Me centres around a standard Bowie chord, the major seventh with added augmented fourth! Thanks Dave, you owe me one.

Program Notes: flowers

flowers is the latest in an ongoing album of works for voices and CD called Modern Love – bold, funny and sad reflections on that crazy chemical thingo called love. flowers is about a girl I really liked, who unfortunately had other plans.
