Program Notes: A Scrapbook, An Album

Helen Garner writes "I went to visit my four sisters, carrying a tape recorder and my imagined map of the family. It was unsettling to learn that each sister has her own quite individual map of that territory…".

A Scrapbook, An Album is based on Helen Garner's essay of the same name published in the book Sisters. The piece explores three sisters' constructed personas, with each of the four sections illuminating a point at which their narratives overlap.
