Black is a vocal work inspired by the composer's own lyrics, expressing a view of claustrophobic feeling and madness which was written for a high school drama play two years ago. The vocal work, which was written this year, is based on a singular melodic idea which is varied by the use of counterpoint and various vocal expressions.
